Toru Tamaoki, who has spent most of the past 13 years working at various ranches in the United States and operating his own training stable, McCoy Stables Inc., in Whitesboro, Texas, has opened a new Western riding stable in Nagasaki Prefecture called "Nagasaki Stables." Mr. Tamaoki is the only Japanese NRHA (National Reigning Horse Association) Pro-rider, and is a professional horseman of the AQHA (American Quarter Horse Association) as well. Mr. Tamaoki is by far the most accomplished Japanese rider in the world of Western horseback riding, with past accomplishments that include: qualifying for the AQHA World Show, NRBC finalist, NRHA Derby finalist, NRHA Futurity money earner, AQHA and NRHA Local Champion, 2004 All Japan Western Championship (JWRA/JRHA) Open Champion, and AQHA Junior Reigning Champion.
The fact that such an accomplished individual has chosen to open a stable in Japan holds great significance. The stable is currently looking for individuals to fill the positions of assistant trainer, instructor and stable hand. Mr. Tamaoki will be handling the day to day training as the full-time chief trainer. This is a wonderful opportunity for those who wish to learn the art of Western horseback riding and reigning competition. Please contact Nagasaki Stables, listed in the RANCHES section, for more information.
